Feeding schedule for puppy
Are you are a new puppy owner? If yes, then your first concern would be about how to feed it. This is because every puppy owner wishes his puppy to grow strong and look attractive and for that matter, feeding the puppy is an important issue so you should make a daily feeding schedule for puppy.
The feeding schedule for puppy greatly varies from that of an adult dog. A puppy needs double the nutrition than that of an adult dog. The nutritional requirements also vary according to the breed of the puppy. So it is important that you know the nutritional requirements of the puppy well and make the feeding schedule according to it.
Protein, fat, minerals and vitamins are essential food needs of a human. Similarly, the dogs also require these elements in their food to some extent. Research proves that the dogs do not have a need of carbohydrates. Despite this, a lot of ready made dog foods contain up to 50% of the carbohydrates. So it is important for you to have a look at the ingredients of the food before purchasing it.
The protein needs of a puppy are about 28 - 30% so make sure that the food contains the said amount of protein. You can fulfill this requirement by adding meat, eggs, milk and cheese in the feed of the puppy. Do not attempt to fulfill the requirement from meat alone. The protein should come from more than one source.
The 'fat’ requirement of a dog varies according to the level of the activity of the dog. If your dog is a bit lazy and inactive, then the fat required by him would be around just 5%. On the other hand if your dog is active and work a lot in a day, then the fat required by him would be around 20%. And when it comes to a puppy, just double the percentage that of a dog. For example, if your puppy is very active and run around all the time then his fat requirements would be around 40%.
