Problem overweight dogs/puppy
People need to understand the fact that overweight dogs/puppies are unhealthy and they could easily face the problem of diabetes and as well as other problems related to health. This problem could also reduce the life period of the dog. So if your dog is overweight do not think that he looks cute and adorable. He is sick and you need to treat him to reduce his weight.
In order to check whether your dog is overweight or not you need to examine by touching him. A dog’s ribs could be easily felt and if you are not able to feel the ribs of your dog under his skin, then he is certainly overweight. There is a thick layer of fat over the ribs of an overweight dog. Also, overweight dog does not have a waist line unlike normal dogs that have one.
Lack of exercise, over feeding, breed, age and gender are the factors behind the obesity in dogs. Let a veterinarian fully examine the dog so that he could find out the underlying causes of your dog’s overweight problem. This will help the dog get treated. Lack of exercise proves to be the primary caused of overweight problem on dogs/puppies. Though you need to give proper nutrition to you dog in order to keep him fit, you also need to understand the fact that it is extremely important for your dog to get proper amount of exercise. Exercise will make sure that he does not get overweight.
Note the activities of your dog/puppy. This will help you see whether he gets proper exercise or not. If he is not active like the other dogs/puppies, then make sure that you take him out for a walk at least twice a day and also play a game like fetching a Frisbee with him.
